Being a COPD sufferer find that the timing and application helps with my breathing exercise of purse lip breathing

Barry Wright v1.6 · 15 years ago

a very quick breathing exercise program. Forces me to take a few minutes to breath and relax, leaving the intense concentration of the computer. If I cannot sleep or get congested at night I simply take a few minutes to do this exercise and then head back to bed. It works! Like this program very much.

Hypertension

My doctor is amazed at my blood pressure results just days after I started using this app. My blood pressure has dropped from 140/102 to 129/90.

enjoy

Found this app good but the control will not go lower than five breaths per min.

I like the layout and concept, but some of us have slow breathing patterns, and its too bad it only goes down to 8 breaths per minute. It would be awesome if there were options to slow it down, or have a few options for realxed breathing practices. (ie: Inhale slowly. Hold. Exhale Slowly. etc. ) Nice idea and good intentions though. :)

It is not clear about how to breath.

Should I breath through the nose or mouth? In a genearal, that app is good

Hyperventilation anyone?

This exercise gave me a headache.

A wonderful tool to aid in breathing meditation. Im guessing that the paid version would have more audio and visual choices? Still, good quality sound and visual, esp for a free app. I would have paid a few $s for this I think. But its free! Totally go for it! :)

After downloading this app for fun I realized, being a mom of four, sometimes I forget to breathe! lol This is awesome and well worth the download, if nothing else you can find a little peace within :-)

I like this app -- just five minutes of deep breathing is very relaxing, and I like that it also keeps track of the weekly breathing. I also like being able to set the starting and target breathing rates to what feels the best for me.

Deep breathing does not increase the amount of oxygen absorbed into the blood, it does decreases the amount of CO2 held in your blood. CO2 is the mechanism, when levels rise high enough, that forces involuntary breathing. When it is too low, your body may experience a reduced amount of oxygen because reduced CO2 allows you to not want to breath. This is a notable problem with divers who seek to hold their breath longer. Reduced oxygen in the blood can cause damage to your brain, organs or even death. Please consult your doctor before attempting these exercises. Sure this not a divers program. however you should be aware of how deep breathing effects the levels of oxygen and CO2 in your blood and the risks associated with it.

My personal target BPM when I do my own breathing exercises is 1 BPM, or even sometimes slower. This app only goes as low as 2 BPM, which is excellent for most people, but some of using even slower breathing to get into a deep meditational state. I generally use the clock on my iPod Touch for this purpose, but I like the look, sound, and general feeling of this app much more. Give me the option to go to 1 BPM (or .75 BPM) and Ill buy the paid version of this app.

This is a really good app, and its free to try, but i feel like it could be better if a little more information on brething was given. This way the user could feel safe about what theyre doing, and what type of breathing is best for them, overall good app.

I dont mind admitting from the outset that if you dont already have version 1.7, this review might not help you. Its more about principle than product evaluation, so you can stop reading right now and get back to more important work--like writing things on friends walls or hurling birds at green pigs. Let me get this straight: this update does nothing but cut the session length to five minutes (down from 60)? No bug fixes? No additional features? Just... less? Hmmm. I think the version I have right now is working just fine, thanks. If you want anyone to pay for the "full" version, then offer it with more compelling features than the free version youve already let people download. It doesnt take an MBA to figure that out. But instead you offer an update that has less capability than what it replaces? Wow, keep enticing me.

So let me get this straight. The first version of the "free" app had no limit on time. But this "new and improved" updated version has a 5 minute limit that can be removed by purchasing the full version? Thanks for the Bait and Switch, guys!

Awesome!

This helps with stress so much! When you have so much on your plate, especially as a student, this app is a neccesity.
